Programme Director

PRIMIS Mortgage Network are the largest Mortgage Network in the UK and form part of the LSL Property Services plc group. We are recruiting for a Programme Director for a 6-month contract.

Role Purpose: - 

The Programme Director will provide senior design leadership across a complex, multi-workstream transformation programme. They will be responsible for shaping and governing the end-to-end solution architecture across business and technology domains, ensuring that delivery teams work towards a coherent, secure, and supportable target state.

Working closely with programme leadership, Group Technology, suppliers, and business stakeholders, this role will bring clarity to complex delivery challenges, align architectural decisions with business outcomes, and help ensure successful programme delivery. The successful candidate will balance strategic thinking with pragmatic decision-making, providing clear direction while supporting delivery teams in navigating technical, operational, and organizational complexities.

Architecture Leadership and Direction: -

• Define and maintain the target and transitional architecture required to support programme objectives.
• Establish clear architectural principles, standards, and design approaches to promote consistency across workstreams.
• Provide timely guidance and decision-making to delivery teams, helping to resolve ambiguity and maintain delivery momentum.
• Facilitate design governance forums to ensure decisions are proportionate, evidence-based, and aligned with programme objectives.
• Clarify system boundaries, responsibilities, and ownership across the programme landscape, supporting effective collaboration between teams and suppliers.

 Solution Design, Integration, and Assurance

• Lead the development of an end-to-end solution architecture that aligns business outcomes with technology capabilities.
• Define integration approaches, interface standards, and data exchange principles in collaboration with Group Technology and delivery partners.
• Ensure solution designs adequately address security, privacy, resilience, recoverability, performance, scalability, accessibility, and operational support requirements.
• Work with data owners and specialists to establish data ownership, quality standards, governance, and retention requirements.
• Provide constructive assurance across internal teams and suppliers, helping to identify risks early and enabling successful implementation.

Programme Delivery and Recovery Support: -

• Partner with programme leadership to identify and manage architectural risks, dependencies, and delivery challenges.
• Help simplify complex technical issues and support informed decision-making across business and technology stakeholders.
• Translate business requirements into practical and deliverable end-to-end solutions that are achievable within programme constraints.
• Provide clear recommendations when timelines, budgets, technical constraints, or business priorities require informed trade-off decisions.
• Support the programme throughout discovery, implementation, cutover, and service transition activities.

Technical Debt and Future Readiness: -

• Maintain visibility of technical debt, architectural compromises, and key dependencies across the programme.
• Support pragmatic decision-making regarding short-term delivery priorities while safeguarding long-term sustainability and supportability.Recommend proportionate remediation, containment, or retirement plans where appropriate.
• Ensure programme decisions remain aligned with wider application, integration, and technology roadmaps.
• Identify opportunities to simplify architecture, reduce complexity, and improve future maintainability.

Stakeholder Engagement and Leadership :-

• Act as the principal architectural contact for the programme across business and technology functions.
• Build strong relationships with senior stakeholders, suppliers, and delivery teams.
• Communicate complex technical concepts in clear, commercial, and operational language.
• Support senior decision-making by presenting options, risks, and recommendations in a balanced and accessible manner.
• Foster collaboration and alignment across multiple workstreams while maintaining architectural integrity and consistency.

Operational Readiness and Continuous Improvement: -

• Work closely with operational and service teams to ensure solutions are prepared for successful service acceptance.
• Support cutover planning, production assurance, and early-life support activities.
• Ensure architectural risks, dependencies, and technical debt are appropriately documented, owned, and managed following go live.
• Capture lessons learned and contribute to the ongoing evolution of architecture standards, governance, and delivery practices.

Essential Skills: -

• Expert knowledge of solution and programme architecture across applications, integration, data, infrastructure, cloud, and security domains.
• Strong understanding of architecture principles, modeling techniques, design governance, and decision management.
• Proven experience in defining modern integration approaches, including APIs, event-driven architectures, messaging, and data exchange patterns.
• Ability to define and govern non-functional requirements, including security, resilience, performance, recoverability, and operational readiness.
• Strong commercial awareness and thorough knowledge of the broader industry landscape.

Desirable Skills: -

• Knowledge of enterprise architecture frameworks and modelling standards such as TOGAF or ArchiMate.
• Understanding of IT service management, operational readiness and controlled delivery environments.
• Experience within property services, financial services or similarly complex data-rich organisations.
• Experience supporting large-scale transformation, remediation or recovery programmes.

Essential Experience:-

• Significant experience leading architecture across large, complex transformation programmes.
• Demonstrable experience delivering end-to-end architecture across multiple workstreams, suppliers and stakeholder groups.
• Proven ability to bring clarity, alignment and direction to complex technology-enabled change initiatives.
• Experience working closely with programme, delivery and business leadership teams to support successful outcomes.
• Strong track record of balancing strategic architectural vision with the practical realities of programme delivery.
